THE GODFATHER
 The Godfather is a crime novel written by Italian-American author Mario Puzo. It is based on the struggle of the 5 families for power in New York . The novel is centred around the Patriarchal Corleone family from the province of Sicily , Italy . Vito Corleoane is the aging patriarch of the Corleone family and an extremely respected .
 Vito Corleone doesn't believe in money when it comes to offering favours but unstead on loyalty and friendship . At the start of the book on his daughter Connie's wedding people come to him and ask him to grant them their wishes . He is respectfully addressed as Godfather . He grants their favours first informing them that they are in his debt .
We can see his power and influence in this novel as he sends street thugs to disfigure men who raped his friends daughter and were freed by the courts . In the case of his Godson Johnny Fontane he sends his Consigliori and informally adopted son Tom Hagen to reason out with the producer of a film regarding Fontanes casting in a lead role . When this is refused the next morning the director wakes up to find the severed head of his prized stallion at the foot of his bed .
 In an attempt to gain power in New York  the other families orchestrate an attempt on Vito Corleone's life after first killing of his enforcer Luca Brasi .Following this an all out Mob-war ensues with Sonny getting killed while on his way to his sister's house to kill his son-in-law for hitting his sister . Michael has to flee New York after assassinating  a cop . He later returns and takes over the family business .
  This book has traditional stories of how family comes first . Friendship and loyalty are Important components of human life Also the way in which Michael Corleone runs the business with the help of Tom Hagen while Vito is recuperating following the attack on him and the death of Sonny . The book also shows us that our biggest enemy is hidden amongst our most trusted associates .
  A true masterpiece . A must read for all book lovers . Rating 8.5 out of 10 . A masterpiece .
