Phileas Fogg a member of the reform club England leads an extremely structured life . He rises at the same time everyday . Has a number of clocks in his house all of which tick in unity . He even fired his butler due to the fact that he received his shaving water 2 degrees colder than usual .

Over at the reform club during a game of bridge he accepts a wager to travel around the globe in 80 days .

His new butler Jean Passepartout spends the day looking at Fogg's daily schedule . H commences his journey that very day .Along the way they travel on trains , steamers , carts , elephants and on foot . They stop at France , Egypt , India(Bombay and Calcutta) , Hong Kong , Japan , America(San Francisco and New York and finally England (Liverpool and London ).

Phileas is a man who is kind in nature the fact that he takes time out of his airtight schedule and rescues a woman from an Indian temple . H e even bears her expenses till England . Detective Fix who suspects Fogg of robbing the Bank of England is also financed by Fogg .

Delays occur along the way but Fogg is as cool as a cucumber . He never shows a sign of worry on his face . Even the best of planners make an error or forget to include something in their calculations as a reader would see if he/she decides to read this book .

It has been adapted into a movie in 1958 . However the book offers much more insight to the characters . One can read about the cultures of numerous nations in 1 book . A must read for all who love to travel . Rating 9 out 10 . A true classic .

 The Godfather is a crime novel written by Italian-American author Mario Puzo. It is based on the struggle of the 5 families for power in New York . The novel is centred around the Patriarchal Corleone family from the province of Sicily , Italy . Vito Corleoane is the aging patriarch of the Corleone family and an extremely respected .
 Vito Corleone doesn't believe in money when it comes to offering favours but unstead on loyalty and friendship . At the start of the book on his daughter Connie's wedding people come to him and ask him to grant them their wishes . He is respectfully addressed as Godfather . He grants their favours first informing them that they are in his debt .
We can see his power and influence in this novel as he sends street thugs to disfigure men who raped his friends daughter and were freed by the courts . In the case of his Godson Johnny Fontane he sends his Consigliori and informally adopted son Tom Hagen to reason out with the producer of a film regarding Fontanes casting in a lead role . When this is refused the next morning the director wakes up to find the severed head of his prized stallion at the foot of his bed .
 In an attempt to gain power in New York  the other families orchestrate an attempt on Vito Corleone's life after first killing of his enforcer Luca Brasi .Following this an all out Mob-war ensues with Sonny getting killed while on his way to his sister's house to kill his son-in-law for hitting his sister . Michael has to flee New York after assassinating  a cop . He later returns and takes over the family business .
  This book has traditional stories of how family comes first . Friendship and loyalty are Important components of human life Also the way in which Michael Corleone runs the business with the help of Tom Hagen while Vito is recuperating following the attack on him and the death of Sonny . The book also shows us that our biggest enemy is hidden amongst our most trusted associates .
  A true masterpiece . A must read for all book lovers . Rating 8.5 out of 10 . A masterpiece .

Along came a spider

This is James Patterson's first novel featuring the brilliant psychologist detective Alex Cross . In this book he is up against Gary murphy a person who has a split personality disorder . The main characters in this novel are Alex Cross , John Sampson , Jezzie Flannagan , Chad Chekley , Devine ,Gary Murphy/Soneji and Maggie Rose Dunne. Side characters are Alex's grandmother , the public prosecutor , defence lawyer , Katherine Rose Dunne .

In this book Gary Soneji who has had a turbulent childhood gets inspired by a crime involving the kidnapping of a baby over half a century ago and wishes to commit the crime of the century . He wishes to be someone .His turbulent childhood is the reason he kidnaps children and holds stakeouts at children occupied places like Disneyland .

It is a fast paced thriller offering us insight into criminal psychology , police chases , kidnapping , murders . Unlike most other novels the case isn't solved in the span of a week but instead takes about 2 years to solve . Alex Cross as a detective assists in the capture of Gary Soneji  and then attempts to dig for information regarding the missing girl Maggie Rose Dunne .

 The ruining of the perfect plan . Gary's twisted nature , Jezzie's wonderful double role as she tricks Alex for information for her lover's safety ,Cross's brilliant psychology in counselling sessions with Gary in prison , the attack on Alex's family and killing of the people who ruined the perfect crime .

 Also the final showdown 2 blocks in front of the whitehouse . A stunning book . 7.5 out 10 . A must for action thriller book lovers .

INTRODUCTION

         This is my 3rd blog after the Manchester united football blog and the blog related to reviews on tv shows and movies . Reading books and seeing them adapted into movies got my interest in watching movies . However as an avid reader I felt it prudent to commence a blog reviewing books . It takes a lot of time for me to read a single book so my posts here will not be as frequent as the other blogs .  Mostly we will see crime and thriller novels reviews posted over here as they are my preferred choice of books .
