A newspaper article , a wager , 20,00 pounds  a rigid man , a trip around the world  an adventure .
Phileas Fogg a member of the reform club England leads an extremely structured life . He rises at the same time everyday . Has a number of clocks in his house all of which tick in unity . He even fired his butler due to the fact that he received his shaving water 2 degrees colder than usual .
Over at the reform club during a game of bridge he accepts a wager to travel around the globe in 80 days .
His new butler Jean Passepartout spends the day looking at Fogg's daily schedule . H commences his journey that very day .Along the way they travel on trains , steamers , carts , elephants and on foot . They stop at France , Egypt , India(Bombay and Calcutta) , Hong Kong , Japan , America(San Francisco and New York and finally England (Liverpool and London ).
Phileas is a man who is kind in nature the fact that he takes time out of his airtight schedule and rescues a woman from an Indian temple . H e even bears her expenses till England . Detective Fix who suspects Fogg of robbing the Bank of England is also financed by Fogg .
Delays occur along the way but Fogg is as cool as a cucumber . He never shows a sign of worry on his face . Even the best of planners make an error or forget to include something in their calculations as a reader would see if he/she decides to read this book .
It has been adapted into a movie in 1958 . However the book offers much more insight to the characters . One can read about the cultures of numerous nations in 1 book . A must read for all who love to travel . Rating 9 out 10 . A true classic .
